Ozark Akerz has been supporting families in need with our organically raised eggs since 2016. In 2019 we expanded our efforts by donating almost 1000 lbs of our wild-foraged Pineywoods Heritage Beef to food pantries and soup kitchens.
Covid-19 has seen a disheartening increase in need. At the same time we've witnessed the hardship of our customers that operate restaurants, some have been forced to close indefinitely.
Although our income is uncertain, our obligation to help feed those in need has never been greater.
We teamed up with friends from a local family farm in mid-March to distribute our eggs and beef to families in need, families that don't have the means to drive to a food pantry. Each week our friends arrive to pick up and distribute eggs and beef. Neither of us could make this happen without the other.
To help sustain our efforts, we're looking for new members of the Feeding Families Team. The sales of 50 shirts will help us provide 24 lbs of Ozark Akerz wild-foraged Pineywoods Heritage Beef and 72 dozen organically raised heritage chicken eggs to families in need.
Inspired by our Pineywoods bull Rocky, the shirts were designed by another farming friend, Rachel Herrick of Slow Farm in Carthage, NC. It's available in four styles.
