About this campaign
Sick of hearing "social skills" used as a euphemism for "marginalized people should be seen and not heard?"
So am I. On my blog, I reclaim the concept of social skills by taking it literally. Social skills really do exist, and they're not about fading powerlessly into the background. Real social skills are about learning effective and ethical ways to interact with other people.
Some of the real social skills I?ve written about:
Believing women about creepy men
Valuing yourself and your work even when others try to shout you down.
Respecting wheelchair users who can walk
Acknowledging trauma survivors as human beings rather than treating them as characters in a story
Listening to people with communication disabilities
Recognizing your limitations without shame
